On the cover of my grandmother’s 1926 photo album is written, “In time I will change, and you, and the currents of our lives. But the image of this moment, and you, are unforgettable.”
This is why I am a photographer.
I grew up viewing countless images of relatives I never knew, but I feel connected to them in a profound way. The image from my grandparents’ wedding day in 1929 is proof to me of where I come from, who I am. It is a straightforward portrait, but what I see are the crooked pinky fingers of my grandfather. The same crooked pinkies I see every day when looking at my own hands. This image is priceless to me.
Because of the images in multiple albums, I know I descend from people with a hard work ethic and dedication to their craft and their family relationships. This is why I pursued photography from a young age and why I hold a degree in Photojournalism. I have worked for years photographing the human condition and intimate moments between couples because having those images means so much to my own life.
I am a photographer because I feel it is important to continue a historical document of my family, keeping the present and future in touch with the past. I hope to create the same for you.
My background in photojournalism has provided me the readiness to document anything that comes my way. Photographing breaking news, professional sports and heads of state has given me the experience to document the details, moments and relationships that occur during your wedding.
I am an award-winning member of the Wedding Photojournalist Association, National Press Photographers Association and the Professional Photographers of America. My work has appeared in national and international publications but the biggest honor is to have my work hanging on your wall.
