Seattle area wedding photos place in international competition
I just received the results for the Wedding Photojournalist Association third quarter international contest. I had three winning images. They are posted below along with the judges comments. Thanks to all these wonderful couples for allowing me to be part of their wedding days!
In the ‘Ceremony’ category, this image from Laura and Drew’s wedding won. From the judges: “The groom’s reaction – especially the slight lean – really makes this photo stand out. It’s a nice clean image that is straightforward but it works. The smiling woman in the background is nice too.”

Also placing in the ‘Ceremony’ category was this image from Annie and David’s wedding where Annie’s long veil got caught on a planter on her way down the aisle. From the judges: “Ah, the dangers of a long veil. The unplanned moment is humorous and beautiful at the same time, and it’s nice to see that the bride finds some humor in it. Being able to read the expressions of most of the guests, the majority of whom seem to find the situation amusing, makes the photo even stronger.”

In the ‘Weather’ category, this image from Brad and Laura’s rainy wedding made the cut. They tried in vain to have the ceremony outdoors but the weather just didn’t cooperate. Here the groomsmen and venue staff try to dry off chairs in between rain showers. From the judges: “Another example of a thinking photographer, capturing a storytelling moment that will add depth to coverage of the wedding day.”
